About The Position

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer / DevSecOps to join their Core Platforms & Services (CPS) organization. This role is responsible for the security of mission-critical cloud public safety SaaS platforms used by public safety and government agencies. The engineer will focus on protecting organizational cloud assets through robust automated security services, managing cloud security across commercial, government (CJIS, CCCS), and Federal (FedRAMP) environments. The position involves implementing proactive vulnerability and threat detection systems while ensuring regulatory compliance and working with state-of-the-art technologies.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Security / DevSecOps Engineer with a strong background in cloud platform and cybersecurity.
  • Good understanding of AWS, Azure, and GCP is required.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity and compliance concepts and framework adherence (e.g., NIST, ISO, FedRAMP).
  • Experience with Containerization (Docker) and orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Ability to develop code and automation scripts in Python, JavaScript/NodeJS, Bash, or Azure CLI.
  • Knowledge of containerized software deployments using AzureDevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of version control practices (GIT).
  • Basic Linux system administration skills and familiarity with the Elastic stack.
  • Understanding of network protocols, topologies, and firewall/WAF configuration and use.
  • Curiosity and ability to quickly learn new technologies and security practices as the cloud landscape evolves.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep domain expertise in cloud platforms is not a prerequisite.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with Kyverno policy management.
  • Familiarity with tools used to secure cloud and containerized deployments such as Wiz or Prisma Cloud.
  • US citizenship and residency required for this role.
  • The candidate must be in the office once a week at one of the following locations: Chicago, IL , Schaumburg, IL or Allen, TX.
  • This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the team responsible for monitoring and assessing the security posture of cloud infrastructure and deployments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Deploy and maintain security capabilities, including CNAPP, Vulnerability detection, WAF, and firewalls.
  • Develop tools for automated self-verification of security functions and support automated inventory and security alerting.
  • Support compliance assessments for various industry standards, including NIST 800-53, OWASP, GDPR, ISO, and SOC 2.
  • Collaborate on detection rules and assist with incident response, occasionally serving as an Incident Coordinator.
  • Stay abreast of security technology evolution and provide recommendations to enhance the overall security posture.
