About The Position

The Cloud Operations Engineer will support enterprise cloud infrastructure, automation, and operational engineering for a large public-sector organization. The role calls for hands-on AWS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps automation, Windows and Linux administration, and cloud operations experience, along with the ability to use modern AI tools to improve engineering productivity. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with an initial six-month contract and potential conversion to permanent employment. The position is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and is primarily remote with occasional onsite requirements. Candidates must currently reside in Arizona and be available for onsite work in Phoenix as required, including on the first day. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with occasional after-hours maintenance and operational change windows. The expected start date is November 16, 2026. The role involves designing, deploying, configuring, and maintaining secure, scalable, highly available cloud infrastructure; automating provisioning and operational processes; managing cloud services; collaborating on secure and resilient solutions; and monitoring and resolving infrastructure issues. The engineer will also apply security, monitoring, auditing, and cost-optimization practices; develop automation scripts; use AI-assisted tools and LLMs in engineering workflows; and maintain technical documentation and standards. Candidates must be able to attend an in-person interview within approximately one week of request, start within approximately two weeks of an offer subject to onboarding, qualify for conversion to permanent full-time employment without employer-sponsored visa support, and successfully complete required background screening. The opportunity offers potential conversion to a permanent position with a comprehensive benefits package, though specific benefits are not listed.
