About The Position

PeopleTec is seeking a full-time, on-site Cloud Network Engineer to support its Huntsville, Alabama location. The selected candidate will join a Huntsville-based team designing, implementing, and operating secure, high-performance networks for system-of-systems enterprises. These networks span on-premise data centers, public cloud environments, software-defined networking, and container-native networking solutions, supporting missile defense modeling and simulation technologies. The role involves secure network design and deployment; cloud and multicast networking; software- and hardware-defined networking; hybrid cloud integration; infrastructure automation and monitoring; and collaboration with security, DevSecOps, and application teams. The engineer will also create runbooks and knowledge-base articles documenting network solutions.

Requirements

  • Five years of professional networking experience, with a focus on cloud and software-defined environments.
  • Proven experience designing restricted or compliant networks and securing inter-domain or enclave communications.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud networking services, including VPCs, VNets, peering, transit gateways, switches, routing tables, and ABAC/RBAC rules.
  • Linux operating system experience.
  • Practical knowledge of multicast UDP and broadcast UDP traffic handling.
  • Experience with software-defined and hardware-defined networking.
  • Ability to create and manage secure routing paths between isolated domains or enclaves.
  • Practical experience with network physical infrastructure and establishing and managing software-in-the-cloud infrastructure.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance upon hire and be able to maintain it during employment.
  • A related degree and professional experience meeting one of the listed combinations: bachelor's degree with 5, 9, or 14 years of experience; master's degree with 3, 7, or 12 years; or PhD with 0, 4, or 9 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Container Network Interfaces such as Cilium, Multus, or similar.
  • Background deploying and supporting enterprise-grade applications in production environments.
  • Experience defining and governing network access protocols, firewall rules, and zero-trust policies.
  • Familiarity with container-based network meshes such as Istio or Linkerd and service-mesh concepts.
  • Experience routing traffic between multiple cloud service provider instances.
  • Proven experience with hybrid cloud models linking remote clouds to on-premise resources.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting complex network issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive approach focused on security, reliability, and scalability.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, AWS Certified Advanced Networking, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy secure networks, including inter-domain routes, network segmentation, access controls, and policy enforcement across cloud and on-premise resources.
  • Support cloud and multicast networking, including cloud infrastructure and multicast or broadcast UDP traffic for high-throughput applications.
  • Deploy and maintain software-defined and hardware-defined networking platforms and appliances.
  • Integrate network services with Kubernetes using CNI plugins and container-based networking.
  • Connect remote cloud instances to on-premise data centers, ensuring reliable routing, latency optimization, and remote enclave connectivity.
  • Automate network provisioning and changes using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for network health and security events.
  • Collaborate with security, DevSecOps, and application teams to define network access protocols and rules.
  • Create runbooks and knowledge-base articles for network solutions.
