About The Position

Based on campus in Knoxville, TN with some hybrid flexibility after getting up and running. Daily responsibilities include designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure across cloud (Azure/OCI) and on-prem environments (on-prem secondary to cloud); executing new builds and optimizing existing architecture; participating in active projects including a major hub consolidation (2-to-1), Express Route redesign, firewall centralization, and BGP work using Azure Route Server. The role also involves performance monitoring, tier-2/3 troubleshooting, technical documentation, and stakeholder coordination. Candidates will participate in an on-call rotation (approximately 3–4 weeks per year covering non-business hours/weekends).

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a related field or 4+ years of direct network administration/engineering experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure networking services.
  • Intermediate knowledge of WAN/LAN, DNS/DHCP, Layer 2/3, TCP/IP, firewalls, and ACLs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, AZ-500, AZ-900, or Security+.
  • Terraform or other automation/IaC tools.
  • Experience with Juniper (their edge platform).
  • Experience with hybrid cloud (Azure + OCI).
  • Experience in large-scale campus or higher education networking.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nmap, netflow).
  • Linux/FreeRADIUS basics.
  • Scripting/API/version control experience.
