About The Position

Are you passionate about building cutting edge infrastructure that empowers elite developers? We are looking for a visionary Lead HPC & Infrastructure Architect with an active TS/SCI with Poly clearance to design, build, and implement our next generation High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters. Your mission is simple yet profound: make our CNO environment the absolute best place for software development at the agency. By designing modern workflows, integrating advanced technologies like Large Language Models (LLMs), and building robust CI/CD pipelines, you will create a state-of-the-art development ecosystem that attracts and retains top-tier engineering talent. You will bridge the gap between legacy systems and future-generation technology, ensuring our mission developers have the high-performance tools they need to succeed. Requirements

• 8 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• Or 12 or more years of experience (substituting 4 years of additional engineering experience in place of a Bachelor's degree).
• 5 or more years of deep systems engineering and cloud architecture experience, with a proven track record of building, breaking, and rebuilding complex enterprise infrastructure.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise in system design, configuration, and usability within production HPC environments.
• Proven experience leading infrastructure modernization and executing incremental migrations (rather than simple "lift and shift" approaches).
• Strong background in corporate services and stakeholder management, with the ability to build ROI models and translate complex technical decisions for executives, security teams, and developers.
• Familiarity with agency-specific cloud compliance nuances, particularly the processes surrounding Authority to Operate (ATO) and secure operations.

Nice To Haves

• Direct experience in CNO development, giving you first hand empathy for what developers actually need from their infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of restricted environments, including their unique constraints, security controls, and architectural impacts.
• Experience right-sizing cloud resources, building FinOps practices, and making defensible recommendations on cloud vs. on-premise cost efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Architect Next-Gen HPC: Design, build, and implement cutting edge HPC clusters, taking accountability for the system design, loadout, and alignment with future technology trends.
• Drive AI & LLM Integration: Develop technical roadmaps and "easy button" templates that enable development teams to seamlessly leverage LLM solutions while maintaining infrastructure flexibility.
• Modernize Workflows: Reimagine the developer experience, designing modernized workflows and integration patterns between legacy systems and new HPC environments.
• Lead Technical Transformations: Conduct deep technical assessments of aging platforms, document dependencies, and execute strategic, incremental migrations that preserve security controls while boosting performance.
• Advocate for Developers: Act as the champion for the development community, removing technical friction and building an environment that engineers love to work in.
