About The Position

We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Enterprise Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure solutions. This role is critical in guiding cloud strategy from early planning phases through deployment and post-go-live support for mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise across multiple public cloud platforms, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record delivering secure, scalable, and compliant cloud architectures-particularly within regulated environments.

Requirements

  • 13+ years of IT architecture experience, including 5+ years in cloud leadership
  • 10+ years across at least two public cloud platforms
  • Expert-level cloud certification
  • Experience leading 3+ large-scale cloud projects
  • 4+ years IaC experience
  • 4+ years cloud security and compliance experience
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related field
  • Must reside in California. Sacramento area is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of enterprise cloud architecture strategies and high-level designs for scalable, secure, and highly available environments
  • Define architecture blueprints across IaaS, PaaS, and serverless models aligned with business and technical requirements
  • Conduct market research and solution analysis, presenting at least three viable architecture options and recommending optimal solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, storage, server) to align infrastructure decisions
  • Architect cloud networking solutions including VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity
  • Identify and implement core cloud services including compute, managed databases, storage, IAM, and key management
  • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) templates and automation scripts for repeatable deployments
  • Establish cloud security architecture including firewalls, security groups, and posture management tools
  • Ensure compliance with NIST, CJIS, and state-level requirements
  • Define governance policies and risk mitigation strategies
  • Design monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
  • Develop data management strategies including backup and disaster recovery
  • Drive performance optimization and cost management
  • Lead application and data migrations to cloud environments
  • Develop deployment strategies and support go-live activities
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship
  • Lead architecture reviews and present to stakeholders
  • Participate in project governance
  • Produce and maintain architecture documentation
  • Ensure adherence to IT change management processes
