About The Position

The Cloud Engineering, Vice President is a hands-on expert who turns high-level cloud designs into secure, automated, production-ready infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and OCI. The role emphasizes disciplined engineering, Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code, automation, compliance, and reliability. The position independently builds and operates complex cloud environments, automates deployment pipelines, hardens platforms against security threats, and manages multi-cloud services at scale. The role also advances engineering standards through code reviews, documentation, and mentoring, improving platform stability, delivery speed, and team capability. The selected colleague works at an MUFG office or client site four days per week and remotely one day per week. The role partners with architecture, security, and platform engineering teams to deliver standardized, secure, observable, and compliant cloud environments.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of enterprise infrastructure engineering experience, including at least 6 years in public cloud engineering roles.
  • Proven success building and operating secure, automated AWS, Azure, and OCI environments.
  • Demonstrated capability in multi-account governance, landing zone engineering, and environment standardization.
  • Strong record of automating deployment pipelines and operational processes end-to-end.
  • Advanced proficiency in AWS, including IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, Route53, Security Hub, and GuardDuty.
  • Proficiency in Azure AD, networking, container services, and resource management.
  • Proficiency in OCI VCN, IAM, compartments, object storage, and security zones.
  • Deep Terraform experience, including module design, state management, workspaces, and version-control integration; Terraform is preferred over CloudFormation.
  • Skill in Python, PowerShell, or Bash for infrastructure automation, orchestration, and operational tooling.
  • Expertise designing infrastructure CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Strong command of IP routing, subnets, VPNs, DNS, firewalls, and private connectivity across clouds.
  • Hands-on implementation of IAM, encryption, secrets management, vulnerability scanning, and compliance automation.
  • Self-driven, with the ability to own complex builds through completion.
  • Precise technical communicator able to interpret architecture and deliver engineered, automated outcomes.
  • Collaborative across disciplines while maintaining a deep technical focus.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional-level certification such as AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or OCI Architect Professional.
  • Experience supporting regulated or security-sensitive environments such as finance or government.

Responsibilities

  • Implement multi-cloud infrastructure aligned with enterprise design standards and governance controls.
  • Engineer compute, storage, network, and identity services across AWS, Azure, and OCI, emphasizing automation, repeatability, and security.
  • Deliver production-grade builds with automated patching, backup, and monitoring integrated from day one.
  • Define, modularize, and maintain reusable Terraform codebases and state management strategies across multiple accounts and tenants.
  • Create CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins to orchestrate infrastructure provisioning, testing, and deployment.
  • Integrate policy-as-code, compliance scanning, and automated guardrails into deployment workflows.
  • Enforce least-privilege IAM, encryption, network segmentation, and configuration hardening aligned with CIS and NIST 800-53 frameworks.
  • Implement continuous compliance and drift detection through automation and native cloud controls.
  • Collaborate with security engineering to integrate vulnerability scanning, key management, and secrets automation.
  • Design and deploy hybrid connectivity, private endpoints, and inter-VPC/VNet peering.
  • Implement resilient routing, DNS, and firewall configurations supporting multi-region failover and segmentation.
  • Build telemetry, monitoring, and alerting solutions using native cloud services and third-party tools.
  • Lead incident analysis, root cause investigation, and long-term remediation through automation.
  • Optimize cost, performance, and reliability through continuous measurement and tuning.
  • Partner with architecture, security, and platform engineering to ensure consistency across environments.
