About The Position

This role involves providing senior-level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases, including integrating third-party products. The engineer will translate technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects, write programs, develop code, test artifacts, and produce reports. A key aspect is employing software development techniques to ensure tests support automation. The position requires elevating code into development, test, and production environments on schedule, providing follow-up production support, and submitting change control requests and documentation. The engineer must thoroughly understand software development methodology and development architecture standards, train and mentor less experienced staff, and resolve elevated issues. Participation in design, code, and test inspections throughout the lifecycle is expected, along with explaining technical considerations in meetings, including those with internal clients, and performing systems analysis activities. A deep understanding of client business functions and technology needs, as well as a broad understanding of Vanguard's technologies, tools, and applications, is crucial. The role involves interfacing with cross-functional team members, communicating systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience, and thoroughly understanding and complying with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures, verifying that deliverables meet requirements. The engineer will also participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned, collaborating effectively across teams and translating technical concepts for diverse audiences.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience and strong expertise in Python programming.
• AWS Cloud technologies including AWS Lambda, SNS, SQS, DynamoDB, S3, Glue Jobs and other cloud-native technologies.
• Hand-on experience developing applications using Angular and Node.js technologies.
• Strong expertise on serverless front-end and back-end development experience is required.
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and modern software development principles.
• Experience leveraging and advocating for AI-assisted development practices using tools such as Claude and GitHub Copilot.
• Minimum of five years related work experience, with at least one year of development experience.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.

• Familiarity with Java back-end technologies, APIs, and microservices architecture.
