About The Position

As the Cloud Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure classified and unclassified cloud environments that support R&D programs, testing activities, system accreditation, and data integration efforts. This role requires 5 days a week on client site in Bethesda, MD.

Requirements

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED TS/SCI Federal or DoD security clearance with a polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a technical field
  • CURRENT Security+ certification (or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
  • FIVE (5) or more years of experience in cloud engineering.
  • Constructing and administering unclassified and classified commercial cloud environments
  • Defining of cloud requirements; developing architecture diagrams to support an approved Authority to Develop (ATD) determination
  • Rolling out, delivering, and setting up the underlying cloud environment
  • Developing the final system design to support an approved Authority to Operate (ATO) determination

Nice To Haves

  • Masters' degree or PhD in degree in computer science or a related technical field
  • FOUR (4) or more years of experience managing a multi-disciplinary research and development (R&D) or Test and Evaluation (T&E) team
  • ONE (1) or more year of experience as a Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager

Responsibilities

  • Define requirements for both unclassified and classified cloud environments and translate them into scalable, secure architecture designs and supporting documentation.
  • Build, deploy, and maintain R&D program cloud environments, including Virtual Private Clouds for testing, performer software management, and integrated scoring and evaluation workflows.
  • Develop final system designs—covering accreditation‑ready architecture formats, CONOPS documentation, cost/resource management plans, and technical guidance.
  • Create classified cloud architectures and documentation to support accreditation and enable system testing against classified data characteristics.
  • Produce summary reports capturing lessons learned, best practices, and recommendations for process and security improvements across IT and program operations.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, monthly security summaries, cost reports, and integration assessments for vendor provided solutions.
  • Prepare and document secure integration paths for imagery, audio, vector sources, and other data types required by program environments and evaluation catalogs.
  • Administer collaboration, planning, and project‑management tools—configuring software platforms, documenting usage, monitoring monthly activity, and managing user accounts and permissions.
  • Support cross‑program coordination by ensuring collaboration tools are capable of handling large user volumes, private channels, and government‑approved SaaS solutions.
