Senior Cloud Engineer
About The Position
Tegna is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Cloud Engineer to join our growing technology team. As a cloud-native, and microservices-driven engineering organization, Cloud engineering plays a critical role in enabling velocity, reliability, and scale. In this role, you’ll collaborate across development, QA, and platform teams to streamline CI/CD processes, infrastructure management, observability, and developer experience. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on automation, performance, and continuous improvement — and who wants to help shape the future of how media technology is delivered.
Requirements
- 3+ years in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or related roles
- Experience with CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions and/or Azure DevOps
- Proficient in infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform)
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments
- Familiar with logging, metrics, and distributed tracing platforms (e.g., New Relic, CloudWatch)
- Hands-on experience managing cloud-native environments (AWS and/or Azure)
- Knowledge of secure DevOps practices and identity/access management
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams and supporting developers directly
- Passion for automation, developer productivity, and continuous delivery

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps
- Support and evolve infrastructure-as-code practices using Terraform
- Optimize cloud resource management and orchestration across AWS and Azure environments
- Enable observability and monitoring through tools like New Relic and custom dashboards
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate CI/CD, monitoring, and security into development workflows
- Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of our cloud-native and microservice-based architecture
- Automate routine tasks to reduce manual effort and increase reliability in development, testing, and deployment
- Provide guidance and best practices on containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
