About The Position

The Cloud Architect / Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure, scalable, cost-effective, and compliant cloud infrastructure to support the bank’s digital transformation initiatives. This role plays a critical part in modernizing the bank’s IT environment by leveraging public, private, and hybrid cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS, while ensuring adherence to financial regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in cloud engineering or architecture.
  • Proficiency in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Familiarity with networking, security, and identity management in cloud environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 5 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
  • Regular in-office attendance required.
  • Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
  • Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures to support core banking platforms, applications, and services.
  • Define cloud adoption roadmaps, including workload placement decisions (cloud-first vs. on-prem retention), modernization, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Architect high-availability and disaster recovery solutions (active-active, active-passive, cloud-based DR, etc.) meeting RTO/RPO requirements for Tier-0/1 banking applications.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions across multiple public clouds and on-premises environments (Azure, AWS, Azure Stack, VMware Cloud Foundation, etc.).
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management across environments using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Azure Bicep/ARM, CloudFormation, Pulumi, etc. with consistent state management.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes.
  • Enforce cloud security best practices including encryption, access controls, and network segmentation.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and compliance teams to align cloud systems with FFIEC, GLBA, and NIST guidelines.
  • Implement unified monitoring, alerting, and performance solutions that provide end-to-end visibility across the infrastructure (e.g., Azure Monitor, AWS CloudWatch, Prometheus + Grafana, Datadog, Dynatrace, etc.).
  • Continuously optimize cloud and on-premises resource utilization, rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, and licensing to meet aggressive cost-control targets.
  • Partner with application owners, core infrastructure teams, cybersecurity, audit, and risk management to ensure secure and compliant hybrid operations.
  • Define and enforce hybrid cloud governance policies, tagging strategies, landing-zone standards, and well-architected framework adherence across the enterprise.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, architecture diagrams, and runbooks for all environments and processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
