The Position: Etegent is seeking a Cloud Engineer to help maintain and sustain software, services, and development environments on large-scale computing systems to benefit our Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. This opportunity is particularly focused on the implementation, management, maintenance, and security compliance, and documentation of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). This position is primarily on-site at government facilities at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, along with some time in our Dayton office. The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle, be detail oriented, and have a passion for creating software solutions to enhance the capabilities of others. Experience working on-site to support either AFRL or NASIC is preferable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, or computer-related engineering field.
  • Current, active Top Secret security clearance and ability to maintain on an ongoing basis and pass SCI adjudication.
  • CompTIA+ Certification.
  • Cloud compute infrastructure expertise (e.g., AWS, Azure).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in computer science, IT, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Active SCI adjudication.
  • Experience working with at least one VDI platform (Azure Virtual Desktops, AWS Workspaces, Horizon, etc.)
  • Thin-client endpoint management experience using software such as 10Zig Manager or similar.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
  • Experience applying security patches and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) checklists to enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) using platforms such as Azure Virtual Desktops, AWS Workspaces, or Horizon Virtual Desktops.
  • Develop, push, and test operating system configurations to thin-client devices.
  • Administer security patches, manages SSL/TLS certificates, and other tasks related to ensuring secure access to VDI systems.
  • Work with users to pilot changes to infrastructure, gather performance metrics, and refine changes based on feedback.
  • Collaborate with Information System Security Officers (ISSOs) to maintain security compliance and monitoring for all systems.
  • Writing clear, concise documentation for system architecture or for operational guides to support helpdesk personnel.
