About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and security of all servers. The Cloud Engineer III will proactively monitor and tune systems, implement server policies, and develop scripts to automate processes. They will also research and recommend hardware and software upgrades, create optimal server infrastructure for new applications, and provide technical guidance to application developers. Additionally, this role involves developing and maintaining documentation, conducting new hardware installations and upgrades, and performing operating system configurations. The Cloud Engineer III will also develop and deliver cross-training to associates, maintain knowledge of industry trends, and participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.

Requirements

  • 4+ years Cloud Engineer experience required. For internal candidates, experience can be a combination of internal and external experience.
  • Expert level experience with at least one cloud environment (Azure, AWS, Google, etc.).
  • Expert level hands-on experience designing and setting up landing zones.
  • Skill evaluation: Behavioral (80%); Coding & Technical Challenges (80%)
  • Self-starter and able to address and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Aptitude to solve technical and practical problems and make recommendations to technical test members.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple assignments and effectively manage own time and priorities.
  • Ability to diagnose network issues and knowledge of IP networking basics.
  • Basic system troubleshooting skills and diagnostic methodologies for both hardware and software.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Environment web app and web services.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Knowledge of implementing Network and Security Constructs via automation in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible or Jenkins, and other automation tools.
  • Experience in analyzing, understanding, designing, and implementing new products, services, and utilities in the web environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal performance of all servers by proactively conducting ongoing performance monitoring, tuning, and adjustments.
  • Ensure server security by reviewing and implementing approved server policies within the system.
  • Enhance functionality of systems by developing and modifying scripts or other vehicles to automate system processes.
  • Develop and make recommendations regarding hardware upgrades and new software releases based on research, analysis, and evaluation of current and future requirements.
  • Create optimal server infrastructure in support of new applications by researching and recommending hardware/software technologies.
  • Develop and maintain all relevant documentation.
  • Provide technical knowledge and guidance to application developers/programmers.
  • Ensure optimal server set-up by conducting effective new hardware installation, hardware replacement/upgrades, and performing operating system configurations.
  • Develop and deliver cross-training to selected associates.
  • Maintain contemporary knowledge of industry trends, concepts, and techniques.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of disaster recovery processes.
