About The Position

North Point Technology is looking to hire a Cloud Engineer to join our Air Team. The qualified candidate must have an active TS/SCI security clearance and will support a cloud development and deployment team responsible for delivering and maintaining multiple operational cloud-deployed software solutions. The ideal candidate has experience across all AWS environments and can provide analysis and recommendations for architectural and configuration updates. This job requires active TS clearance. Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • Designing and implementing distributed, cloud-based solutions across Cloud, SOA, and Web Services architectures
  • Hands-on virtualization, networking, and operating system experience
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud technologies
  • Deep expertise across core AWS services including EC2, PaaS (OpenShift), Lambda, S3, and Reserved Instances
  • Proficiency with Python for automation and scripting
  • Experience with Jenkins and GitLab for CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with infrastructure as code using CloudFormation and Terraform
  • Experience with monitoring and visualization tools such as Grafana and Zabbix
  • Experience with security and compliance scanning tools such as HP Fortify and ACAS
  • Experience with PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience with team collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and RocketChat
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
  • Understanding of code baseline management
  • Knowledge of systems, architectural, software development, and software sustainment practices
  • Experience creating systems engineering documentation such as Version Description Documents (VDDs) and diagrams
  • Ability to obtain a CI Polygraph
  • DoD 8570-compliant certification (e.g., Security+) at IAT Level II/III

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of the SFA organization, aeronautical data, and mission
  • Experience with NGA cloud-based architecture
  • AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certifications
  • Experience with IC cloud architecture implementation methodologies
  • Experience with native cloud templating services such as AWS CloudFormation
  • Experience with aeronautical datasets
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related projects
  • Experience with the Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) process for evaluating solution options

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with teams to design and implement AWS system architectures, including the operational status and security of government systems (ATO)
  • Reviewing and providing input to system requirements
  • Incorporating industry best practices and lessons learned into future design iterations
  • Applying broad systems engineering lifecycle experience to AWS cloud initiatives focused on architectural design and development
  • Working with team members to move data to the appropriate data stores
  • Monitoring dashboard metrics including cost, computational utilization, and other emerging business needs
