About The Position

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join our team supporting the Joint Training Synthetic Environment (JTSE) for the Joint Staff J7. In this role, you’ll design, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud environments that support critical national defense training systems.

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in relate field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Strong Linux experience
  • Experience building/maintaining physical and virtual servers
  • Extensive GitLab experience (branching, MRs, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Experience with Helm charts, container registries, and image tagging
  • Hands on experience with HashiCorp Vault and JIRA
  • Experience with backend database configuration and maintenance
  • Ability to manage deployments across multiple isolated environments
  • Knowledge of sizing, capacity planning, and cloud infrastructure requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in cloud environments
  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities
  • Highly organized, self motivated, and able to work independently or in a team
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Application deployment experience in AWS or Azure
  • Programming experience with Go or Python
  • Experience with Prometheus/Grafana monitoring stacks
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity tools (Trivy, Grype, Fortify)
  • Knowledge of Istio and cluster level security tools
  • Experience with VMware infrastructure
  • Background maintaining cyber compliant systems
  • SSL/TLS certificate management and mTLS experience
  • Ingress controller experience
  • Experience deploying with ArgoCD
  • Kubernetes cluster management using Rancher/RKE2
  • Experience with LDAP, OAuth, OIDC integrations for securing APIs

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure in AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Provision and configure compute, storage, network, and database resources
  • Automate cloud deployments using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
  • Implement cloud security best practices and support vulnerability remediation
  • Set up and manage monitoring using modern observability tools
  • Troubleshoot cloud and infrastructure issues to ensure high availability
  • Integrate cloud services with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab and GitLab Runners
  • Develop and maintain Helm charts and container image workflows
  • Manage secrets using HashiCorp Vault
  • Administer backend databases and perform data extraction/analysis
  • Support multiple application deployments across diverse network environments
  • Drive IaC adoption and automation for scalability and consistency
  • Collaborate across engineering, operations, and security teams
  • Develop clear documentation and maintain Confluence knowledge resources
