About The Position

Join HPE’s team and help shape the virtualization stack powering hybrid cloud solutions for the world’s largest enterprises. As a Cloud Developer, you won’t just manage VMs — you’ll scale, optimize, and evolve the platform itself. From high-performance virtual compute and storage to secure workload isolation and dynamic scheduling, your work will directly influence the direction of HPE’s virtualization software and solutions, used across global enterprise environments.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Java, Groovy, and/or other object-oriented languages.
  • Experience in virtualization or container infrastructure technologies such as KVM, libvirt, QEMU, Kubernetes, Docker and Podman.
  • Experience developing for compute, storage or networking products and solutions.
  • Experience developing for and debugging in Linux kernel/OS environments.
  • Experience with storage infrastructure technologies such as Ceph, LVM, NFS, iSCSI, GFS2 or similar.
  • Familiarity with build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle), version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to listen and learn from more experienced engineers, architects, and senior leaders.
  • Complete ownership of projects and mistakes, possess problem-solving skills, and have tremendous self-drive.
  • Thrive in Agile-based software development lifecycles with dynamic roadmaps and iterative delivery.
  • Hold yourself and others accountable to high standards of software quality and promote shift-left improvements accordingly.
  • Knowledge of distributed system architecture and clustering design principles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ Years of experience developing software and delivering solutions at scale.

Nice To Haves

  • Ruby or Python experience is a plus.
  • Pursuing or completed a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, CompTIA Security+).

Responsibilities

  • Virtualization infrastructure software development.
  • Design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot software systems.
  • Analyze feature specifications, deliver and integrate features, and develop test plans and documentation with senior engineers' guidance.
  • Partner with architects and engineering leadership to develop and deliver competitive roadmaps.
  • Assist customer issues as needed, provide RCA insights and help ensure technical standards and documentation requirements are met.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technology changes to help drive innovation into the business.
  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, and operational teams to understand customer needs and recommend solutions.
  • Learn about operational challenges faced by engineering teams and assist in developing risk-mitigating strategies to address them.
