About The Position

This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based data solutions. The Cloud Data Engineer will create scalable data pipelines, optimize data storage solutions, and ensure data integrity and security within the CAE C/HPC environment. The position supports the development of open architectures and applications, infrastructure, and cloud platforms, ensuring they are best suited for Cloud deployment and consumption. It also supports the adoption of Cloud best practices and supporting technologies for capabilities like Big Data/Analytics, and involves the design, development, and implementation of cloud solutions. Collaboration with the Information Technology Security team is essential to ensure secure and compliant applications and solutions. The role requires effective interfacing with customer personnel at various organizational levels, self-motivation, independent work with minimal supervision, and the ability to report status on tasks and assignments. The engineer must be capable of generating preliminary and detailed designs for enhancements or modifications, applying current industry design concepts, and utilizing basic technical writing skills. Effective performance as part of a project team is expected.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in a specific technology practice (Infrastructure, Storage, Security, Windows, Linux, etc.) for both on premise and cloud resources
  • Minimum of 5+ years networking and server operating system experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in container management technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience using a source code repository such as Git
  • Experience using a defect management system such as Jira
  • Experience using Bash, Python and PowerShell scripting languages
  • Proven success in a fast-paced development environment and possess a willingness to take ownership, accept accountability, and thrive under pressure
  • Strong critical thinking and logical reasoning skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
  • Proven track record of building relationships, fostering collaboration and working cross-functionally with multidisciplinary teams
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of open architectures and applications, infrastructure, and cloud platforms to ensure they are best suited for Cloud deployment and consumption.
  • Support the adoption of Cloud best practices and supporting technologies to enable such capabilities as Big Data/Analytics, design, development, troubleshoot, and implementation of cloud solutions
  • Work closely with the Information Technology Security team to ensure the applications and solutions designed and deployed are secure and compliant.
  • Effectively Interface with Customer personnel at varying organizational levels
  • Must be self-motivated and expected to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Report status on tasks and assignments
  • Must be able to generate preliminary and detailed designs as required for enhancements or modifications to existing designs, requiring the application of current industry design concepts and utilization of basic technical writing skills.
