About The Position

The UCF IT department within University Operations is seeking a Cloud Computing Engineer I to join the Enterprise Infrastructure team and support the administration, maintenance, and optimization of cloud-based and Microsoft infrastructure services. This position plays a key role in supporting the university's Microsoft Azure environment and core infrastructure technologies, ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient operations that support academic, research, and administrative functions across the institution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • This role requires the successful candidate to work on-site at UCF as their primary work location. On-site presence is an essential function of this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft infrastructure technologies, including Active Directory, DNS, MECM, and SCOM.
  • Experience with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as PowerShell and Terraform.
  • Foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts and enterprise infrastructure technologies.
  • Experience or coursework related to Windows Server administration, Active Directory, networking, or systems administration.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and performance monitoring solutions.
  • Understanding of ITIL principles, change management, and service management practices.
  • Exposure to cybersecurity, compliance, or infrastructure governance processes.
  • Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
  • Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, or related industry certifications are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and core Microsoft services, including Active Directory, DNS, MECM, and SCOM.
  • Respond to service requests and incidents, troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues, and escalate complex problems as needed.
  • Perform routine Azure deployments, including virtual machines, virtual networks, storage accounts, and other cloud resources using established standards and best practices.
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and cost metrics using tools such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute automation and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions utilizing PowerShell, Terraform, and related technologies.
  • Support IT service management processes, including request fulfillment, change management, documentation, and operational procedures
  • Maintain technical documentation, standards, and knowledge base resources to support operational excellence and team collaboration
  • Assist with infrastructure security and compliance activities, including access reviews, audit support, and remediation efforts.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the reliability, scalability, and security of cloud infrastructure services
