About The Position

WVU Parkersburg is seeking a Cloud Computing & Automation Instructional Specialist. This is a full-time, exempt, 12-month appointment, grant-funded, benefits-eligible position. The primary location is the Innovation and Technology Center in Vienna, WV. Full-time is considered 37.50 hours a week. The salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Cloud Computing, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognized, regionally accredited college or university OR an associate’s degree and a combination of advanced industry experience and credentials sufficient to meet accrediting and institutional requirements.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with one or more major cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience with automation and infrastructure management, including: Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates), Scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking, security fundamentals, and identity/access management.
  • Demonstrated use of advanced technology systems such as learning management systems or similar technologies.
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality are expected.

Nice To Haves

  • Current industry certifications, preferred, such as: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Cloud Practitioner, or SysOps Administrator; Microsoft Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect; CompTIA Cloud+, Linux+, or Security+.
  • Industry experience in cloud architecture, cloud operations, DevOps, or systems automation preferred.
  • Understanding and application of assessment practices is strongly preferred.
  • Successful college-level teaching experience is preferred.
  • Prior effective use of technology in instructional delivery is preferred.
  • A willingness to deliver courses in all instructional modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a 21-credit hour load per semester in cloud computing, automation, and related technologies. Other college-level courses may be assigned based on credentials.
  • Assignments may include evening, weekend, hybrid, and/or online instruction.
  • Provide academic advising.
  • Participate in committee service.
  • Conduct program and course-level assessment.
  • Provide program support.
  • Utilize learning management systems effectively.
  • Engage in student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Participate in professional development.
