About The Position

SOTI is seeking a Cloud Architect to design and evolve scalable, highly available, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures across AWS and Azure, with a primary focus on AWS. This role involves architecting solutions using a wide range of cloud-native services, building automation, and improving CI/CD practices. The Cloud Architect will also design multi-region, high-availability, backup, and disaster recovery solutions, and architect cloud networking. Responsibilities include improving existing cloud environments through modernization and cost optimization, partnering with various teams on architecture reviews and migrations, defining reusable cloud architecture patterns, and evaluating new cloud capabilities. Additionally, the role involves providing technical guidance and mentoring to engineers working on cloud architecture and automation.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in the technology industry, including 4+ years in a Cloud Architect, Solution Architect, or equivalent cloud architecture role.
  • Strong hands-on AWS experience with the ability to design and implement production-grade architectures in large-scale environments.
  • Solid hands-on Microsoft Azure experience with the ability to design, support, and integrate enterprise Azure services.
  • Strong experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS, ECR, Lambda, Route53, Step Functions, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Secrets Manager, IAM, ACM, KMS, and EventBridge.
  • Hands-on Azure experience with Virtual Machines, VM Scale Sets, VNets, NSGs, Load Balancer/Application Gateway, Storage Accounts, Azure SQL/Managed Instance, Functions, Azure Monitor, Key Vault, and Private Endpoints.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps including repositories, CI/CD pipelines, service connections, variable groups, deployment automation, and release processes.
  • Strong understanding of Azure networking including VNet peering, private endpoints, VPN/ExpressRoute, DNS, routing, and hybrid or AWS-to-Azure connectivity.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and cloud automation experience; experience with Python, Bash, REST APIs, SDKs, AWS CLI, or Azure CLI is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or similar Infrastructure as Code technologies.
  • Experience designing highly available, multi-region, disaster recovery, backup, and workload migration solutions.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, Windows/Linux infrastructure, databases, containers, serverless architecture, APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex production environments and translating operational problems into long-term architectural improvements.
  • Strong analytical, architecture, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively across Development, DevOps, SRE, and Operations teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve scalable, highly available, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures across AWS and Azure, with approximately 70% focus on AWS.
  • Architect AWS solutions using EC2, ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, S3, RDS, VPC, API Gateway, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, EventBridge, and other cloud-native services.
  • Design and support Azure solutions using Virtual Machines, Azure SQL/Managed Instance, Storage Accounts, Azure Functions, VNets, Application Gateway, Azure Monitor, Key Vault, and Azure DevOps.
  • Build automation using PowerShell, Bash Script, Python, AWS CLI, Azure CLI, SDKs, REST APIs, and cloud-native automation services.
  • Design automated workflows for infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, upgrades, maintenance, environment validation, reporting, and operational activities.
  • Build and improve Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices using Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, Azure DevOps, and related technologies.
  • Design multi-region, high-availability, backup, disaster recovery, and cross-cloud solutions across AWS and Azure.
  • Architect cloud networking solutions including VPCs, VNets, routing, load balancing, private connectivity, VPN, ExpressRoute, DNS, and AWS-to-Azure connectivity.
  • Design serverless, containerized, event-driven, and short-lived compute solutions using services such as Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, EventBridge, and Azure Functions.
  • Improve existing cloud environments through modernization, rightsizing, automation, performance improvements, and cost optimization.
  • Partner with Development, DevOps, SRE, Database, and Cloud Operations teams on architecture reviews, migrations, integrations, troubleshooting, and proofs-of-concept.
  • Define reusable cloud architecture patterns, technical standards, automation frameworks, and deployment practices for teams to adopt consistently.
  • Evaluate new AWS and Azure capabilities and identify opportunities to simplify architecture, improve reliability, reduce deployment time, and minimize operational effort.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers working on cloud architecture, automation, scripting, and cloud-native solutions.

Benefits
