MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT: As a Cloud Architect, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USSTRATCOM. USSTRATCOM is a Combatant Command responsible for strategic deterrence, nuclear operations, and enterprise IT services essential to national security. It oversees Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3), Joint Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (JEMSO), Global Strike, and Missile Threat Assessments, working closely with other Combatant Commands, Services, and defense agencies. SCITLS will be a key component that will ensure mission success and the safety of the U.S. and its allies by providing 24/7 IT services and network support for NIPRNet, SIPRNet, JWICS, and SAP/SAR environment. You will play a crucial role in providing support in the following areas: Develop and define the overall cloud architecture and provide input into design and operational activities based on best practices tailored to USSTRATCOM's needs and infrastructure to maximize the benefits of the cloud environment. Integrate application, server, network security, and government requirements such as FISMA, FedRAMP, and ATO processes. Participate in the product evaluation and selection process. Provide architecture expertise and assist in development of products and deliverables to further USSTRATCOM strategy and goals in transition to a Cloud hosting model. Provide management of research and evaluation of current market trends, best practices, and preferred architectural approach to ensure the solution matches services/agency needs. Assist and support activities to eliminate gaps or inconsistencies in the initial solution, architectural design, deliverables, benefits, and messaging.

Requirements

  • BS degree; may be substituted for additional years of experience
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Security Clearance Level: Must have a current/active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI status
  • Required Certifications: ITIL 45Foundation certified within 9 months of start; 8140 Certification
  • Comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and hybrid environments
  • Knowledge of major cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, and government-specific cloud services
  • Deep familiarity with federal security and compliance frameworks: FISMA, FedRAMP, RMF, and ATO processes
  • Understanding of DoD security requirements, cybersecurity controls, and secure design principles
  • Knowledge of network, application, and infrastructure security concepts
  • Awareness of identity and access management, PKI, encryption standards, logging, monitoring, and audit requirements
  • Understanding of DevSecOps approaches, CI/CD pipelines, and modern development practices
  • Knowledge of product evaluation methodologies and cloud technology market trends
  • Familiarity with systems design documentation, architectural artifacts, and technical writing standards
  • US Citizenship Required: Yes
