Cloud Architect Engineer
About The Position
ZPI is the software division of ProMach, a leading provider of packaging solutions. ZPI develops, implements, and supports digital intelligence software systems that enhance the performance of packaged goods manufacturing operations. With a strong foundation in production monitoring, ZPI is now expanding into cloud-native products designed for the next generation of manufacturing customers. We're looking for a Cloud Architect & Engineer to lead the technical design and implementation of our cloud-based products. You'll have significant influence over how our products are structured, built, and deployed, working alongside our engineering team to turn ideas into production-ready products. This is a hands-on role: you'll design the system, build it, and own it in production.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing and building cloud-native systems end-to-end, not just contributing to a single layer
- Experience building systems that ingest and process high volumes of operational data reliably and at scale
- Experience designing and deploying databases at scale, including schema design, query performance, and storage tradeoffs
- Strong grasp of distributed systems: data flow, service boundaries, failure modes, and resilience patterns
- Experience integrating cloud platforms with on-premises or operationally constrained environments
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and the broader Microsoft technology ecosystem, including .NET and SQL Server; comfort with cloud-agnostic design principles a plus
- Ability to communicate architectural decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity and able to make sound decisions before everything is fully defined
Nice To Haves
- Background in industrial, IoT, or manufacturing environments is a plus
- Familiarity with SaaS architecture patterns: multi-tenancy, customer data isolation, subscription-based delivery
Responsibilities
- Design cloud architecture for scalable, multi-tenant SaaS products from data ingestion through cloud-hosted services and customer-facing reporting
- Define infrastructure patterns for multi-tenancy, data isolation, scalability, and security that hold up as the product grows
- Evaluate technology and platform options with an eye toward long-term maintainability
- Document architectural decisions and the reasoning behind them so the team inherits a clear, defensible record
- Build, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure and backend components alongside the engineering team
- Design and build data pipelines that move operational data from customer environments into the cloud reliably, securely, and at scale
- Contribute working knowledge of CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code, and cloud operational practices, getting pipelines stood up and knowing what good looks like
- Establish monitoring, observability, and reliability practices that keep the product healthy in production
