About The Position

CGI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Engineer within our Federal sector advancing the client's mission through cutting edge technology. You must have a passion for keeping pace with rapidly evolving technology advancements and leveraging your knowledge on a highly collaborative team to deliver state of the art capabilities. The Cloud Engineer designs, implements, and manages an organization's cloud infrastructure and systems, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and efficient. This involves tasks like migrating on premises systems to the cloud, automating infrastructure deployments, and optimizing cloud costs. They also play a crucial role in troubleshooting cloud related issues and ensuring adherence to security policies. CGI Federal is looking for CGI partners who share a passion for building high quality, scalable, advanced IT solutions in a collaborative, fast paced, outcome driven mission. This position is located in our Lafayette, LA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5 years of experience
  • Able to attain High Risk Tier 4, Public Trust Non Sensitive High Risk positions
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud), cloud services, virtualization, networking, and security.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Shell) and automation tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation: Cloud engineers are responsible for designing the overall architecture of cloud based systems, including selecting appropriate cloud services (public, private, or hybrid) and configuring virtual networks, storage, and compute resources.
  • Cloud Migration: They assist in migrating existing applications and data from on premises environments to the cloud, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption.
  • Automation: Cloud engineers automate infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and management tasks using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Chef, which improves efficiency and reduces manual effort.
  • Cost Optimization: They monitor cloud resource usage, identify areas for cost reduction, and implement strategies to optimize cloud spending.
  • Security: Cloud engineers are responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures to protect cloud based systems and data, including access controls, encryption, and network security.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: They diagnose and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and applications, providing support to other teams as needed.
  • Monitoring and Maintenance: Cloud engineers monitor the performance of cloud systems, identify potential issues, and implement necessary maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaboration: They work closely with other teams, including development, DevOps, and security, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of cloud initiatives.
  • Staying Up to Date: Cloud engineers need to stay current with the latest cloud technologies and best practices to ensure that the organization's infrastructure remains modern and efficient.
