In this position, as a Closure Architecture Engineer, you will lead the pre-program technical design and development of body closure systems, including hoods, fenders, side doors, swing gates, liftgates, and tailgates. You will be responsible for defining functional architectures, ensuring robust quality and performance, and engineering closure components that consistently meet targets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Automotive).
  • 5+ years of experience in Closures Product Development.
  • Proficiency in Ford CAD systems (CATIA V5/V6), with a demonstrated ability to Develop master sections that incorporate all critical functional and manufacturing criteria
  • Create 3D surfaces to advance and validate engineering design concepts

  • Comprehensive program experience spanning from through , including hands-on launch delivery experience from DCV through OKTB.

Responsibilities

  • Develop efficient designs for closure system components through internal and external benchmarking aligned to program scope, technology readiness and capability, and affordable program targets for cost and TFLE.
  • Develop 3D CAD concept models and master sections to define system architectures, ensuring proper packaging of hardware, seals, glass, and structural components.
  • Identify and integrate innovative technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes to improve system efficiency and deliver industry-leading closure features.
  • Guide studio surface development to reconcile program hard points, functional requirements, and cost targets while ensuring manufacturing feasibility.
  • Integrate lessons learned, quality enhancements, and TVM initiatives into forward model designs.
  • Utilize the "Attachment C" methodology for system selection, quantifying trade-offs across a wide range of attributes, including cost, weight, appearance, NVH, and HCD.
  • Prepare and deliver technical studies to architecture peers, program teams and management.
  • Lead the "Team-of-Four" supplier sourcing process, overseeing system selection, target derivation/alignment, quality delivery, and timing requirements.
  • Collaborate with closures core engineering for new / updated requirements and design rules via closures tech club and other forums.
