Responsible for reviewing requests for services that require pre-certification and or referrals. Work in collaboration with the providers, Nurse navigators, and the staff to gather the required information to obtain the prior authorization for chemotherapy. In addition, the precertification team member will work with pharmaceutical companies to help with patient copay assistance funding as needed. The precertification team member will help find advocacy and or grant funding as needed to help offset the cost of patients out of pocket costs. This position functions under the Cancer Center Director and works in conjunction with the Nurse Navigator to meet help remove any barriers to the care of the oncology patient. The Precertification specialist complies with all policies and procedures for Marshall Medical Centers, as well as all departmental policies and procedure.
