About The Position

Health Information Technician job duties include but are not limited to knowledge of HIPAA compliance, receiving and fulfilling in-coming medical correspondence/form, calls, request from physicians offices, hospitals and patients, fulfilling incoming medical correspondences from the designated assigned work queues, promptly and efficiently. Reports directly to HIM Manager.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required
Previous experience in Medical Records preferred
Detailed knowledge of current HIPAA compliance rules and guidelines
Must be organized
Ability to Multi-task
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records lay-out and terminal digit filing systems
Skill in English grammar adn spelling
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, physicians, co-workers, and the public
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Responsibilities

Knowledge of HIPAA compliance
Receiving and fulfilling in-coming medical correspondence/form, calls, request from physicians offices, hospitals and patients
Fulfilling incoming medical correspondences from the designated assigned work queues, promptly and efficiently
File and maintain patient records, files, reports and other correspondence
Uphold effective work habits including, but not limited to, regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability and promptness.
