CASSY is the leader in youth mental health services in the Bay Area and partners with local schools to place competent, compassionate therapists directly on school campuses to provide comprehensive mental health services to all enrolled students at no charge. Our mission is to de-stigmatize mental health services and make supporting students' social and emotional well-being the norm in our schools. CASSY supports students through individual, group, and family counseling, while also offering crisis support and intervention, staff and parent consultations, and classroom lessons on bully prevention, depression, and suicide awareness. The Mental Health Clinician provides direct mental health support, consultation, and psychoeducational programming for students enrolled in the Middle College Program. This unique alternative education setting serves highly capable and academically motivated students, some of whom may experience social, emotional, or mental health challenges that have led them to seek a nontraditional educational environment. The clinician functions as the primary mental health provider and intake coordinator for the program, assessing student needs, facilitating access to appropriate services, providing short-term counseling interventions, and developing psychoeducational programming. The position requires a high degree of autonomy, initiative, clinical confidence, organization, and collaboration with educational staff.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work/Psychology/Counseling
  • Current registration with the BBS.
  • Minimum one year's experience providing therapeutic services to youth.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Creative, resourceful, ethical and professional.
  • Submit and maintain evidence of a current (completed within the last year) negative Tuberculin test, maintain clear Criminal Background Check/Fingerprinting, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary mental health clinician for the Middle College Program.
  • Conduct student intakes and assess social-emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs.
  • Maintain an active caseload, which may fluctuate annually depending on program needs.
  • Clinician will function as intake coordinator to determine needs, clinical services, etc
  • Consult with school staff regarding student wellness, behavioral concerns, and intervention strategies.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate psychoeducational groups and workshops based on student needs. Topics may include mindfulness, stress management, emotional regulation, coping skills, resilience, executive functioning, and other wellness-related areas.
  • Managing an ongoing counseling caseload of approximately 10 students, with variability based on student need.
  • Providing brief intervention services ranging from approximately 3–18 sessions per student.
