About The Position

Frontier Behavioral Health (FBH) is a non-profit organization with over 100 years of experience serving the Spokane community. FBH provides evidence-based treatment to individuals of all ages facing a wide range of behavioral health issues. As a Trauma-Informed Care Organization, FBH is dedicated to helping clients lead fulfilling lives. The Clinician is part of a multi-disciplinary team offering telephonic and outreach crisis intervention and evaluation services. The primary goal of the Crisis Diversion Unit (CDU) is to divert individuals from emergency departments, the criminal justice system, and inpatient psychiatric treatment by utilizing community resources for stabilization. The CDU serves individuals of all ages, including those with co-occurring disorders, who may be experiencing homelessness, and potential Trueblood class members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in behavioral health or related field.
  • Must apply for a Counselor Agency Affiliated – Registered credential from the WA State Department of Health within 30 days of hire.
  • Must have an unrestricted and valid driver’s license.
  • Must have active car insurance.
  • Must be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of work.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of experience working with psychiatrically impaired populations.
  • Professional licensure in the state of Washington.

Responsibilities

  • Receive direct referrals from co-responder teams and other identified referral sources.
  • Provide crisis and hospital diversion services to youth, adults, and families in behavioral health crisis.
  • Facilitate the use of and access to crisis hospital diversion resources.
  • Conduct initial and follow-up phone and face-to-face assessments for individuals at moderate or high risk.
  • Complete suicide and homicide risk assessments to determine the necessary level of response for client safety.
  • Develop stabilization and safety plans in collaboration with the client and their support network.
  • Complete comprehensive documentation to support safety plans.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of community resources and the ability to access them to support client needs.
  • Develop follow-up plans for at-risk/high-risk children, youth, and families to ensure stabilization and service acquisition.
  • Ensure discharge plans include client input and are appropriate to the client's needs, risk level, and are time-limited.
  • Maintain working relationships with courts, attorneys, providers, law enforcement, jail staff, inpatient psychiatric facilities, other agencies, advocates, consumer groups, and citizens.
  • Participate in Peer Review, supervision, and in-center educational and administrative meetings.
  • Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Assist non-Medicaid individuals in accessing Medicaid.
  • Provide case management and wrap-around services as needed.
  • Assist clients in obtaining basic needs such as emergency housing, financial assistance, medical services, medications, and other resources for community stability.
  • Provide coaching, advocacy, information and referral, linkage and coordination with resources, and ongoing supports.
  • Travel to see clients in the community and between work sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
