Under general supervision of the Program Director, Clinician I/II is responsible for assessing, diagnosing and identifying the appropriate level of patient care by conducting a comprehensive assessment and utilizing tools required to determine appropriate services and level of care, participating in care plan development, and providing clinical services to clients as needed. This role involves performing comprehensive assessments, identifying appropriate diagnoses, and developing care plans within required time frames. Clinicians provide guidance, consultation, and approval of assessments, diagnoses, care plans, and progress notes, while maintaining detailed client documentation. They participate as members of a multidisciplinary treatment team, providing clinical input and consulting with staff on client cases and medication issues. The role requires knowledge and competency in substance abuse and co-occurring disorder treatment, with sensitivity to cultural differences. Clinicians may carry a caseload, conduct individual/group sessions, and are expected to meet productivity goals. They make and monitor appropriate referrals, support staff and intern orientation/training, and actively participate in quality improvement efforts. Additionally, they serve as liaisons with community agencies, advocate for clients, and make presentations to community groups. Responsibilities include reporting changes in client condition, making rounds and documenting withdrawal symptoms in residential programs, observing medication self-administration, and responding to crises such as behavioral emergencies, medical emergencies, suicidal ideation, overdose, or acute intoxication. They also participate in treatment team meetings, collaborate with external partners, contribute to quality assurance, and ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and health and safety standards is crucial. Clinicians attend supervision, clinical meetings, and continuing education to maintain credentials and may be required to conduct field-based services.
