Main 6 is a 31bed Cardiac-Thoracic Interventional Unit. We care for cardiac, thoracic, and vascular patients. We provide care to patients who underwent open heart surgery-bypass, valve, vascular and thoracic surgery. We work with the research team and care from patients involved in many cardiac research studies. We receive patients from operating room, cardiac processing unit and cardiac intensive care unit. We are a high energy, fast-paced unit that works with multiple disciplines to coordinate our overall care for each patient individually. We care for many different surgical populations; therefore, we provide a great opportunity for new nurses to fine tune their skills and really be able to "pull it all together" from what they learned in school. Your experiences as a new nurse or seasoned nurse will grow your knowledge, teach you time management and make you an expert on admissions and discharges and everything in between. We look forward to meeting you. The Clinician is a nurse leader who has direct responsibility in the achievement of a culture of excellence and patient care. The Clinician is a highly developed role model of professional nursing practice. Under the general direction of the Unit Director or other department manager, the Clinician will complete and deliver employee evaluations, conduct selection and hiring of staff, and manage the daily performance for a group of direct reports. The Clinician is responsible for providing service-based education and clinical expertise for staff including orientation and training, consultation on practice issues, and general coordination of clinical activities. Additionally, the Clinician may have shift accountability for delivering nursing care when needed.
