About The Position

High Point & Affiliated Organizations is a health and human service agency dedicated to treating and preventing substance use disorders and mental illness. With programs across Southeastern Massachusetts, High Point offers a comprehensive continuum of care, including inpatient, outpatient, residential, and community-based services. The organization also supports survivors of abuse, violence, and families experiencing homelessness. Requirements

Excellent verbal and written communications skills
An understanding of the relationship between substance abuse and mental health issues and/or self-help programs
Diagnostic, assessment skills and case management ability
Promote and enhance knowledge about the symptoms of psychiatric illness and addiction
Interagency collaboration
Ability to facilitate a group/lecture
Ability to set limits and enforce rules
An understanding of boundaries and ethics
Computer skills
Bachelor's in related field
Minimum of one (1) year of supervised substance abuse counseling experience

Responsibilities

Maintain and submit any current Licensure or Certificate necessary for the performance of the position.
Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Confidentiality of Alcohol Abuse Policy and HIPAA Regulations.
Participate in Treatment Team Meetings.
Maintain assigned caseload, providing direct care to patients including assessments, individual counseling, discharge planning, treatment plans, daily progress notes, daily groups, group note completion, and bio-psychosocial assessments.
Ensure all patient medical records are professional, complete, thorough, and updated in a timely manner.
Provide direct patient care, including individual counseling, group facilitation, lectures, new patient orientations, discharge and aftercare planning, and case management.
Link patients with aftercare services prior to discharge and assist patients and their families in accessing outpatient services when appropriate.
Attend all unit, facility meetings, and case conferences as directed by the Clinical Director.
Attend mandatory trainings.
Engage in continued education in the field of substance abuse and related courses.
Contact insurance companies for authorization as needed.
Utilize walkie-talkie as campus responder.
Utilize standard precautions at all times.
Demonstrate behaviors that recognize the rights of patients.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Clinical Director, and/or Senior Clinician.
