About The Position

At Stony Brook Medicine, the Clinical Value Analyst collaborates with the Value Analysis Director to create methods for reducing hospital supply expenses. This role involves researching and preparing product cost and usage analyses using data from hospital systems and external organizations. The analyst will present data and work with faculty to improve understanding of cost efficiency opportunities in supplies while maintaining optimal patient healthcare. Responsibilities include communicating with supply vendors to secure the best prices and following up post-implementation to ensure forecasted savings are achieved. The position also functions as the clinical recall coordinator for SBUH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • At least 5 years’ clinical experience
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license

Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyze, and provide analytical reports based on clinical and financial data as needed.
  • Create forecasts for savings opportunities, including reviews of pricing tiers.
  • Compare savings opportunities among GPOs.
  • Manage trial and evaluation projects directly with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff relating to cost savings initiatives.
  • Initiate corrective action for clinical staff product concerns as needed.
  • Represent the Supply Chain division at inter-departmental meetings.
  • Function as the clinical recall coordinator for the hospital.
  • Help to initiate and plan clinical product changes.
  • Work with purchasing and receiving/stores to identify appropriate clinical product substitutions for backorder and/or discontinued clinical products.
  • Act as the facilitator for the Pediatric Products Committee.
  • Propose cost savings opportunities through changing products or through utilization reduction.
  • Coordinate with Nursing Education for new product introductions.
