About The Position

HealthRIGHT 360 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing accessible and comprehensive healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Our mission is to address systemic barriers to healthcare and promote health equity. We offer a range of services including mental health care, substance use treatment (residential and outpatient), and primary health services. We also provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community from the criminal justice system. By integrating physical and behavioral health, we aim to empower individuals to overcome challenges by addressing social determinants of health, fostering resilience, and facilitating recovery. The Outpatient Program specifically serves individuals struggling with substance use disorders, mental health issues, or co-occurring disorders, working with high-risk populations from diverse backgrounds. Our programs are inclusive of adult participants of any gender identity and accept most individuals seeking outpatient treatment, including walk-ins, referrals, and step-down clients from residential programs. The Clinical Therapist is a BBS Registered individual responsible for providing clinically and culturally competent outpatient mental health and substance use disorder services in a medical setting. Services include crisis intervention, brief behavioral interventions, psychosocial assessments, supportive short-term counseling/psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, substance use disorder treatment, and referrals. The Clinical Therapist I is expected to maintain a high degree of professional competence and ethical standards, functioning as part of an integrated care team.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree in related field from an accredited institution.
  • Possession of a Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (AMFT, APCC, ACSW).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid California driver’s license.
  • Experience working successfully with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency.
  • Experience with mental health assessment and diagnosis.
  • Experience establishing supportive relationships and working with clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • EMDR training/certification.
  • Experience working with homeless, HIV+, and substance using patients.
  • Experience working with populations with varying lifestyles, ages, sexual orientations, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and economic status.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, diagnoses and manages mental illness/substance use disorder within individual client sessions.
  • Successfully de-escalates clients in psychiatric or emotional management emergencies; facilitates group therapy which fosters safety and consistency.
  • Utilizes appropriate referral and collateral sources to best support each client.
  • Uses tests, measurements, and measurement scales for general and specific assessments as well as objective patient criteria in the provision of services and evaluation procedures.
  • Documents care promptly following charting protocols and applicable California licensing requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with primary care staff to facilitate integration between primary care and mental health to improve patient outcomes.
  • Obtains and maintains licensure.
  • Seeks training opportunities to improve skills which support the mission and attends continuing professional education programs as appropriate.
  • Meets benchmarks for applicable visit numbers and quality indicators as assigned.
  • Meets benchmarks for all contract and grant deliverables.
  • Assists in continuous quality improvement through on-going problem/needs identification and problem solving and as requested, acts as change champion or lead in improvement activities.
  • Adheres to company dress code and maintains professional appearance.
  • Completes mandatory training within deadlines.
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours.
  • Maintains availability for various administrative/clinical duties as requested by supervisor (e.g., case presentations; in-service training to staff; represents clinic and/or HealthRIGHT 360 at and/or attends professional conferences).
  • Other duties as assigned.
