About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Child & Adolescent Outpatient - Mental Health & Addictions, the Clinical Therapist, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, is responsible for the delivery of time-limited, evidence-based psycho-social assessments and treatments to child & youth with Tier-3 mental disorders and Substance Use Disorders. All services are provided within a Stepped Care framework and practice is guided by disorder-based clinical care pathways. Each clinician participates in a consultation group to ensure collegial support, accountability, and effectiveness of assessments and treatments. It is an expectation that the Clinical Therapist will act in a professional and ethical manner, following all recognized codes of ethics, standards, legislation, and guidelines relevant to clinical practice and profession. They will convey respect and a solid understanding of subtle and complex diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to specific groups.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a clinical health-related discipline - Master’s in social work, Psychology (Registered, Masters), Master’s in Counseling, Master’s in Nursing, Master’s in Occupational Therapy
  • Current registration with relevant provincial regulatory body
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of standard criteria used (DSM-5) for the classification and diagnosis of mental health disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in providing individual and group evidence informed therapies based on care plan to clients with mental illness, substance use disorders, and/or concurrent disorders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in collaborating with families in relation to sharing information and implementing family-sensitive services that involve families in the care and recovery of people living mental illness and addiction
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in crisis intervention, suicide, and violence risk assessment/intervention
  • Demonstrated awareness of community resources and programs
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • High level of written/oral/interpersonal communication skills; experience with conflict resolution
  • Ability to work effectively in multiple software applications required
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision and participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Two (2) years licensed related clinical experience (including assessment and planning, treatment and intervention and discharge planning) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Non-violent crisis intervention and suicide risk assessment preferred
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
