About The Position

The Clinical Therapist will be responsible for providing comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, developing psychosocial histories, identifying problem areas, and establishing treatment goals and action steps for clients. This role involves weekly monitoring of client progress, case conferencing, and developing discharge and aftercare plans. The therapist will also conduct substance use educational activities, provide individual and group counseling, and maintain client files with timely documentation. Additionally, the position requires participating in professional staff activities, the on-call system, and contacting clients' families or significant others for assessment and participation in family programming.

Requirements

  • Master's in social work or counseling
  • Minimum of two years counseling experience in a substance abuse treatment setting
  • COVID-19 Vaccine
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Michigan Licensure (Eligible)
  • MCBAP CAADC or Development Plan
  • Strong organizational, diplomatic, and clinical judgment skills.
  • Effective multi-disciplinary team interaction, critical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Competency in SUD and co-occurring treatment.
  • Computer knowledgeable.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment.
  • Develop a psychosocial history for each client based on evidence gathered during the assessment.
  • Identify problem areas assessed in the psychological history.
  • Identify individual problem areas the client will need to work on during treatment.
  • State goals and action steps for each resident’s treatment, including the client in the development of their care plan.
  • Weekly monitor and score the progress of clients against clinical goals.
  • Case conference and monitor client progress in treatment.
  • Develop discharge and aftercare plans with each resident.
  • Conduct substance use educational activities, group lectures, movies, tapes, etc.
  • Provide individual and group counseling.
  • Maintain client files with timely progress notations and timely completion of required documentation.
  • Call in professional medical or psychological consultations where indicated.
  • Work closely with the Clinical Director who will supervise counselor performance.
  • Participate in all Professional Staff Organization activities.
  • Participate in the on-call system.
  • Contact client’s family/significant other for assessment purpose and to get them to participate in family programming.
