About The Position

The Clinical Therapist position is housed in the Health and Legal System Lab within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). This role operates under the supervision of the Laboratory Director and Clinical Therapist Supervisor. A primary focus of this position is to provide SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) services to residents at the Pulaski County Jail. Treatment delivery will be both in-person and virtually, conducted at the UAMS campus and directly at the Pulaski County Jail. The Clinical Therapist is expected to possess a strong understanding of mental health diagnosis and treatment, particularly concerning Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Substance Use Disorders. Ongoing communication with supervisors and other lab members is a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.
Current or provisional license by the Arkansas Professional Board - Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC)

Responsibilities

Work with participants to complete individual or group therapy.
Complete brief intervention protocol, assessments, and appropriate documentation.
Maintain a small individual therapy caseload.
Lead psychotherapy groups.
Provide crisis intervention to research participants, and take on other research duties as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
