About The Position

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital's Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CSICU) is part of a comprehensive cardiothoracic and vascular program that cares for pre- and post-operative open heart, thoracic and vascular surgery patients, diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization patients with associated interventions, such as percutaneous cardiac angioplasty and stent placement, ablations and pacemaker/internal cardiac defibrillator insertions, and general med/surg ICU/CCU overflow patients. As a Clinical Technician, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience, enhance your skills, and pursue career growth within the Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works from nights from 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period
One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student with at least one completed clinical rotation as part of an accredited Nursing School Program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) OR additional education/training (e.g., mental health)
Competencies in both the professional, technical and clinical knowledge domains must be demonstrated in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
Demonstrates proficiency in applied mathematics & reading comprehension at an 8th grade level

Responsibilities

Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, patient transfers/transport, applying external monitoring devices, further technical skills of phlebotomy, 12-lead ECG’s and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
