About The Position

The Clinical Technician works in the 28-bed Intensive Care Unit at Marymount Hospital, serving patients with serious medical conditions who require critical care. Under the supervision of an RN, the caregiver assists with basic patient care, helps keep patient rooms clean and orderly, and demonstrates empathy and compassion in interactions. This is a regular PRN position with a day/evening rotation between 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., including weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within the new-hire period; nursing students must have certification before hire.
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience, subject to the stated substitution options.
• Ability to meet the described physical requirements, including moving and lifting patients, extensive standing and walking, and exerting the specified levels of force.

Nice To Haves

• Additional education or training may substitute for some or all of the stated experience.
• Nursing students who have recently completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute that rotation for the required experience.
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including taking vital signs and weight, assisting with personal care, point-of-care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices, and removing urinary Foley catheters.
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN.
• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
• Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required.
