Medina Hospital’s 2 North Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializes in the care of cardiac and neurological patients who require close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions. Our dedicated team provides expert care for patients with complex medical conditions, including those recovering from cardiac events, stroke and other neurological disorders. As a Clinical Technician on our team, you will assist with basic patient care, maintain room cleanliness and demonstrate empathy and compassion in all activities and interactions. Your work plays a direct role in our mission to continuously provide patients with the best healthcare experience possible. A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon or within new hire period
  • Nursing students required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire.
  • One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
  • Proficient in applied mathematics and reading comprehension at an 8th grade level

Nice To Haves

  • Additional education/training may substitute for some/all the stated experience
  • Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
  • Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered

Responsibilities

  • Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, such as taking vital signs and weight, assisting patients with personal care, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley Catheters.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
  • Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
