About The Position

As a Clinical Tech, you will provide direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff and physicians, ensuring patients receive compassionate and effective treatment. Your role is vital in supporting both patients and healthcare teams, contributing to the seamless delivery of care in an acute setting. This position is within the Cardiovascular ICU, a 22-bed mixed acuity unit specializing in cardiac care and services. The team uses evidence-based practice to support nursing autonomy and workflow, offering growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one of the following: Current nursing student with two completed semesters, graduate of a Registered Nurse program, LPN, EMT, Paramedic, Medical Assistant program completion, or Certification in Phlebotomy.
  • Valid BLS certification or obtained during Patient Care Orientation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to recognize differences in care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to tailor care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Clinical Tech experience.
  • Experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff and physicians.
  • Assist with patient assessments and monitoring, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Perform phlebotomy and other clinical tasks as required.
  • Support the healthcare team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues to ensure coordinated care.
  • Collect and record essential patient data – vitals, food and fluid intake/output, and more – with precision and care.
  • Respond to patient needs and partner with RNs to ensure maximum comfort and safety.
  • Notice the little changes that can make a big difference – and report them promptly.
  • Support mobility by helping patients ambulate and get where they need to go.
  • Assist with oxygen devices under RN direction and apply slings post-pacemaker procedures.
  • Perform clinical tasks such as Foley catheter insertion, bladder scans, enemas, blood glucose checks, and documenting results.
  • Provide help with daily activities, like dressing, meals, and hygiene.
  • Support RNs during equipment use and bedside procedures.
  • Deliver culturally sensitive care to a wide range of patients — from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Promote positive experiences for patients and their families through kind, respectful interaction.
  • Perform phlebotomy and IV access procedures with confidence and care.
