About The Position

Under the direction of the Assistant Team Leader or Office Team Leader, the Captain supports daily office operations to ensure efficient workflow, quality patient care, and exceptional customer service. This position serves as a working leader who helps guide staff performance, models professionalism, and assists leadership in training, communication, and operational consistency across assigned departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or retail healthcare setting required
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to solve problems and adapt to fast-paced clinical operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, able to multi-task, and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at one time and delegate appropriately
  • Possess a caring, patient, and friendly attitude
  • Experience in conflict resolution
  • Ability to Train, mentor, and hold peers accountable under guidance of leadership
  • Demonstrate reliability, initiative, and strong customer service orientation

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related preferred
  • Leadership or team lead experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for daily team questions and workflow coordination
  • Support Assistant Team Leader in assigning tasks, monitoring productivity, and ensuring policy compliance
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and positive morale among team members
  • Participate in coaching and cross-training of new and existing employees
  • Maintain smooth patient flow and efficient daily operations
  • Assist in ensuring exam rooms, equipment, and instruments are maintained and ready for use
  • Support scheduling accuracy and adherence to clinic templates
  • Uphold HIPPA compliance and ensure proper patient communication standard
  • Help coordinate and track staff training and competencies
  • Reinforce proper procedures for check-ins, testing, patient care, and safety standards
  • Model practice values and encourage continuous learning and improvement
  • Demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and courtesy with all patients
  • Support the resolution of patient concerns in collaboration with leadership
  • Ensure accuracy in documentation, orders, and communication with clinical staff and providers
  • Monitor supply needs and communicate shortages promptly
  • Ensure adherence to daily checklists, forms, and quality standards
  • Report performance or operational issues to the Assistant Team Leader or Office Team Leader in a timely manner
