About The Position

The primary focus of this position is to provide advanced clinical support to the interdisciplinary team and leadership support to the Directors of Care in day-to-day operations to enhance the delivery of quality services within Complex Mental Health programs. This involves supporting the implementation of clinical standards, evidence-informed practices, and quality improvement initiatives that promote safe, person-centred care for individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness, concurrent disorders, addictions, cognitive impairment, behavioural challenges, and complex psychosocial needs. The Clinical Support Coordinator functions as a clinical resource, mentor, educator, and consultant to assist teams in managing complex mental health, behavioural, psychosocial, and clinical situations. The role supports the implementation and evaluation of clinical initiatives, quality improvement activities, assessment processes, documentation standards, and interdisciplinary care planning practices. The position promotes trauma-informed care, harm reduction principles, psychosocial rehabilitation approaches, behavioural support strategies, and best practices in mental health care while supporting staff development and clinical excellence. Responsible for other related duties as required. Complex Mental Health Programs provide continuing care and specialized supports for adults living with severe and persistent mental illness, often in combination with physical health conditions, substance use disorders, cognitive impairment, acquired brain injury, psychosocial challenges, responsive behaviours, and functional disabilities. Services are delivered within a harm-reduction, trauma-informed, person-directed model of care that emphasizes dignity, autonomy, wellness, meaningful engagement, therapeutic relationships, and quality of life while working collaboratively with clients, families, support networks, and community partners to promote stability, recovery, independence, and successful transitions where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Active registration with CARNA required.
  • Advanced knowledge of mental health nursing, addictions, concurrent disorders, behavioural support, and psychosocial rehabilitation.
  • Registration with appropriate professional body required.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant clinical experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Education, certification, or formal training in psychiatric nursing, mental health, addictions, behavioural health, trauma-informed care, harm reduction, or crisis intervention preferred.
  • Formal leadership experience an asset.
  • 2 to 3 years leadership experience preferred.
  • Working in a long term care environment considered an asset.
