About The Position

Holy Cross Health, recognized as one of Forbes America's Best Employers for Healthcare Professionals, is seeking a full-time Clinical Support Coordinator (Unit Secretary) for the Emergency Room. This position provides essential administrative support to the unit. The schedule involves 12-hour day shifts from 7 am to 7:30 pm, with rotating days weekly, requiring availability on any day of the week, including weekends. Please note that this schedule does not offer flexibility for set days off due to its rotating nature.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A Certificate of satisfactory completion of a formal Unit Secretary program or previous related experience is required.
  • Good customer-service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and receive communications from the Nursing Unit Director or designated Charge Nurse and Nursing Unit staff via verbal, telephone, mail, pneumatic tube, and computer system.
  • Communicate effectively with patients or their families to meet the needs of the population served.
  • Assemble new charts, record specified clinical information, file reports, imprint forms in clinical records, check discharge charts for completion by the responsible nurse, and maintain patient records.
  • Operate the computer for transcribing diagnostic orders and other computer transactions.
  • Maintain pertinent hospital data and records.
  • Order and maintain supplies for the nursing unit.
  • Actively participate in all Codes and drills as scheduled.
  • Perform other job-related duties within job scope as requested by supervisor.
