About The Position

The Clinical Supervisor provides day-to-day clinical oversight and administrative and clinical supervision to assigned program staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, client-centered behavioral health services. The Clinical Supervisor is the primary clinical leader for assigned teams and is accountable for staff development, documentation quality, service delivery, outcome measures, multidisciplinary coordination, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Clinical Counseling, Psychology, or another related behavioral health field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid professional license from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an LCSW, LMFT, Clinical Psychologist, PsyD, or other appropriate clinical licensure.
  • Valid California Driver's License, proof of automobile insurance, good driving record, and ability to travel to fulfill the duties of the position.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of full-time clinical experience in a comparable behavioral health or community mental health setting, including at least two (2) years of post-licensure experience.
  • Knowledge of LACDMH requirements, Medi-Cal documentation standards, Specialty Mental Health Services regulations, quality improvement and quality assurance processes, and behavioral health compliance requirements.
  • Awareness and working knowledge of the Integrated Practice - Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (IP-CANS) tool and other agency-designated level-of-care and outcome measurement tools.
  • Working knowledge of California High Fidelity Wraparound Standards and the ability to apply program-specific service requirements when assigned.
  • Demonstrates cultural humility and respectfulness, including awareness of Tribal Sovereignty, the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical leadership and oversight for assigned programs and staff.
  • Provides clinical leadership and consultation to staff to promote sound clinical judgement, accurate assessment and diagnosis, effective treatment planning, and the delivery of high-quality behavioral health services.
  • Guides staff in risk assessment, crisis intervention, complex case consultation, and appropriate service delivery.
  • Provides individual and group clinical and administrative supervision, coaching, and consultation to assigned staff.
  • Monitors staff performance, caseloads, productivity, client engagement, documentation, outcome measures, and adherence to program expectations.
  • Reviews and approves clinical documentation and provides timely feedback to strengthen clinical practice and compliance.
  • Ensures staff receive timely supervision, required licensure support, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Ensures clients receive timely services at the appropriate type, intensity, frequency, and duration based on medical necessity, clinical need, and program requirements.
  • Tracks service delivery, engagement, treatment progress, and movement across levels of care.
  • Provides clinical direction regarding level-of-care determinations, treatment planning, discharge readiness, and transitions between programs or services.
  • Provides direct clinical intervention, crisis support, or consultation when operationally necessary.
  • Collaborates with Centralized Intake to ensure clinical recommendations and program referrals are reviewed and implemented promptly.
  • Ensures staff follow through with intake reaccommodation's, engage referred clients, and communicate barriers or changes in clinical need or level of care.
  • Works with the Clinical Program Manager and Centralized Intake to resolve access-to-care barriers and support appropriate placement and continuity of services.
  • Facilitates weekly multidisciplinary team meetings to review clinical cases, engagement, service delivery, documentation, outcomes, discharges, step-downs, and program priorities.
  • Ensures meetings include clear clinical recommendations, assigned follow-up responsibilities, and timely resolution of identified barriers.
  • Coordinates case consultation, case review, and care planning activities as needed.
  • Collaborates with Clinical Supervisors across programs to promote consistent practice, coordinated service delivery, and continuity of care.
  • Works collaboratively with psychiatry, nursing, occupational therapy, whole-person care teams, Quality Improvement, Centralized Intake, and other departments to support integrated care.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with LACDMH, schools, healthcare providers, child welfare agencies, probation managed care plans, and community partners.
  • Serves as the program champion for Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI), and agency clinical technology initiatives.
  • Ensures required clinical outcome measures are completed, reviewed, tracked, and used to guide treatment and program improvement.
  • Monitors documentation quality, medical necessity, timelines, service utilization, client engagement, and other quality indicators.
  • Conducts documentation and utilization reviews and ensures corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
  • Collaborates with QI and QA staff on audits, site visits, corrective actions, and improvements initiatives.
  • Champions agency platforms, including Greenspace, Eleos, iDashboards, and other designated systems, and provide employees with direct coaching and support in their accurate and timely use.
  • Ensures compliance with agency policies and procedures, LACDMH requirements, Medi-Cal standards, Specialty Mental Health Services regulations, contractual obligations, and applicable federal, state, county and licensing requirements.
  • Monitors medical necessity, documentation timelines, treatment planning, required training, and program deliverables.
  • Ensures staff maintain required licensure, registration, certifications, training, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitors productivity, caseload distribution, access to care, service utilization, and program performance indicators.
  • Works collaboratively with the Clinical Program Manager to address barriers to service delivery, staffing concerns, workflow improvements, and program performance.
  • Supports achievement of agency and contractual performance goals while maintaining high standards of clinical quality and client-centered care.
  • Participates in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and training of new employees.
  • Identifies training needs and supports clinical competency, leadership development, agency practices, and effective use of required platforms.
  • Promotes continuous learning, professional development, and effective use of supervision.
  • Completes employee evaluations, provides routine performance coaching, and supports performance improvement and corrective action processes in collaboration with the Clinical Program Manager and Human Resources.
  • Promotes accountability while maintaining fairness, professionalism, respect, and a focus on employee development.
  • Maintains an active Los Angeles County Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Designation as a condition of employment and exercises that authority in accordance with agency policy and county requirements.
  • Provides clinical leadership during psychiatric emergencies, behavioral health crises, high-risk situations, and other urgent clinical events.
  • Supports staff with crisis assessment, involving detention evaluations, safety planning, hospitalization, mandatory reporting, risk management, and coordination with emergency responders.
  • Participates in program-specific crisis coverage and after-hours responsibilities as assigned.
  • Promotes effective communication among staff, peer Clinical Supervisors, program leadership, Quality Improvement, Medical Services, and executive leadership.
  • Communicates operational changes, clinical expectations, policy updates, and regulatory requirements to assigned staff.
  • Represents the agency professionally in internal and external meetings as assigned.
  • Performs all responsibilities within professional scope and applicable ethical, legal, confidentiality, and regulatory standards.

  • Must ensure a hazard-free workplace, enforce Company safety compliance and OSHA safety regulations, conduct employee worker's compensation investigations and foster a proactive safety culture across the Company.
  • Ensure that employees follow established safety protocols, procedures and guidelines at all times.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment includes promptly reporting injuries, illnesses, hazards, or unsafe conditions to their supervisor or designated representative.
  • All EMPLOYEE related injuries or illnesses must be reported immediately to HR and Nurse First Response (NFR) should be notified for an assessment.
