About The Position

The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical supervision to internal counselors pursuing their Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) credential in Tennessee. This role ensures supervision activities meet state regulatory requirements and supports the professional growth of supervisees through group supervision, individual supervision, and occasional training facilitation. The Clinical Supervisor also plays a key role in maintaining compliance with all applicable state rules and standards.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Current Qualified Clinical Supervisor (QCS) recognized by the TN Board of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors for providing LADAC supervision.
Demonstrated knowledge of state regulatory requirements for clinical supervision.

Demonstrate basic computer/word processing skills.
Demonstrate basic knowledge and skill in the use of typical office equipment such as calculator, fax machine, copier, computer, telephone, and computer programs.
Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes.
Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.
Prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, or stretching.
Variable workload, periodic high stress and activity level.
Standard medical office conditions and environments.

Responsibilities

Provide individual and group clinical supervision to counselors working toward their LADAC credential, in alignment with Tennessee state regulations.
Mental health counseling may be provided based on program and qualifications of clinician.
Provide services according to the required hours, which may vary depending on services.
Observe, evaluate, and provide constructive feedback on clinical skills, ethical practice, and professional development.
Maintain appropriate supervision documentation for each supervisee.
Conduct Individual, Group, and/or Live Supervision.
Document Clinical Supervision.
Track Clinical Supervision Hours.
Conduct trainings as needed on the basis of chart audit results to ensure continuous quality improvement.
Provide consultation, support and oversight on high risk patient cases.
Sign off as Supervisor on all relevant clinical documentation.
Maintain caseload.
Engage in Monthly QI Meetings for reporting and improvement planning.
Provide in-service training.
Provide crisis intervention/support services to patients assigned to other counselors when their primary counselor is unavailable.
Monitor and assess the quality of clinical services provided by the counseling team.
Assist counselors in training and questions concerning case management, counseling strategies and federal and state regulations.
Group Therapy Planning/Development.
Conduct fidelity monitoring observations of evidence-based interventions and practices.
Meet with counselors for whom they are providing clinical supervision on a periodic basis, provide constructive feedback to counselors regarding their progress, and prepare required documentation as required by regulatory agency.
Provide oversight to counselors under their supervision by accompanying them while conducting 1:1 session and/or group therapy sessions.
Provide hands-on training of the 12 core functions through direct observation and case record review.
Facilitate individual and/or group sessions with counselors under their supervision at least one time per week at least one hour in duration during which feedback and mentoring is provided.
Provide learning opportunities for counselors under their supervision through role play, co-facilitation, observation, and any other viable option for enhanced skill base.
Conduct alcohol and drug abuse counseling sessions on a regular basis per state regulation, or as part of the individual treatment plan.
Conduct group counseling sessions as required.
Orient patients to the treatment program’s operation and procedures.
Collect available social, educational, economic, and vocational information to be used as part of the assessment process.
Implement or revise patient treatment plans with the patient as required per state regulation and record a review of the patient’s progress according to BHG policy.
Develop within (10) days of entry or as required by state guidelines, whichever is more stringent, a formal treatment plan documenting patient goals and update utilizing the same guidelines.
Maintain patient records that are complete, comprehensive, and well organized.
Submit records for periodic review as requested by supervisory team.
Document all patient contacts. If other team members provide services to the patient, the assigned counselor is responsible to see that such contacts are documented in the patient’s chart.
Make appropriate referrals through case-management services and perform necessary follow-up.
Assist the Program Director in implementing new programs into patient treatment.
Advise the Program Director of problems encountered with caseload management and schedules.
Attend weekly treatment team meetings prepared to both lead the discussion where appropriate and discuss his/her assigned individual patient caseload.
Provide in-service trainings to counselors and other treatment center team members as needed.
Hold a basic understanding of alcohol/drug abuse and addiction. Additionally, keep up-dated on current drug abuse and treatment information, especially current trends in Opioid Maintenance Treatment.
Provide intake/readmission services, and when applicable provide several weeks of supportive follow-up counseling for new patients until their assignment to a primary counselor.
Provide, monitor, and document follow-up calls/contact to all discharging patients for at least 30 days.
Provide crisis intervention/support services to patients assigned to other counselors when their primary counselor is unavailable.
Provide inter-agency reports/documentation required for third party reimbursement, criminal justice proceedings, supplemental income assessments, emergency services, and other specialized treatment needs of patients as applicable.
Coordinate care with other community providers as needed.
Meet BHG attendance standards and be present and ready for work at the beginning of their established work schedule.
Report any work-related injury or illness, or workplace hazards or security issues immediately to supervisor.
Perform peer file reviews monthly for the purposes of quality control.
Monitor and assess the quality of clinical services provided by the counseling team.
Stay current on Tennessee state laws, rules, and regulations regarding LADAC supervision and licensure.
Ensure supervision hours, activities, and records meet all state requirements.
Collaborate with HR and compliance teams to align supervision practices with organizational policies.
Facilitate or coordinate training sessions to enhance clinical competencies, ethics, and adherence to best practices.
Support supervisees in developing treatment planning, counseling techniques, and documentation skills.
Responsible for complying with all federal, state and local regulatory agency requirements.
Responsible for complying with all accrediting agencies.
Shall encourage all unlicensed counselors to complete the process of obtaining appropriate licensure and/or certification.
Work closely with program leadership to align supervision goals with organizational needs.
Serve as a resource to supervisees for clinical and ethical guidance.
Provide periodic updates to leadership on supervisee progress and potential concerns.
Responsible for the achievement of assigned specific annual goals and objectives.
Responsible for mentoring and training counseling team members regarding best practices in counseling and skills necessary to engage patients in treatment.
