About The Position

Under direction of the Operations and Clinical Managers, the HLA Supervisor oversees daily operation of the Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics laboratory. Key responsibilities include but not limited to; Technical Oversight: Directs daily laboratory processes including HLA typing, crossmatching, antibody screening, and chimerism testing. Quality & Compliance: Ensures the lab meets all ASHI (American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics) and CLIA regulations, proficiency testing, quality assurance and CAP inspection readiness. Staff Management: Manages scheduling, competency assessments, performance evaluations, and ongoing staff training. Test Validation and Implementation: Leads and participates in the evaluation, validation, and implementation of new methodologies. Develops, reviews, and maintains SOPs and related documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards. Histotrac Upgrade and Maintenance: validates and implements HLA software upgrade and EPIC Beaker interface.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology or Biological Science required.
  • 5 or more year’s full time experience required.
  • ASCP certified generalist or categorical Technologist or equivalent accreditation required.
  • Demonstrates autonomy, critical thinking skills and has skillset required to oversee shift operations.
  • Capability and capacity to lead multiple projects and assist with staffing needs under the direction of department leadership.
  • Experience and high proficiency with computers required.
  • Web based application experience, Microsoft applications including excel experience required.
  • Ability to make decisions with significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a major department or multiple departments.
  • Ability to address problems that are broad, complex and abstract, often involving Medical Center-wide issues and requiring substantial creativity, resourcefulness, staff engagement, Lean diagnostic techniques, negotiation and diplomacy to develop solutions.
  • Ability to set direction and vision for major departments or multiple departments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains effective workflow and operations.

  • Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department.
