Position Summary The Clinical Summer Intern will gain hands-on exposure to clinical operations within a healthcare environment while supporting patient care teams and departmental initiatives. This internship is designed for students pursuing careers in healthcare and provides practical experience, professional development, and insight into daily clinical workflows. Interns will work under the guidance of licensed clinical staff and leadership while adhering to all safety, confidentiality, and compliance standards.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in high school (senior year), college, or university program with an interest in healthcare or clinical careers
  • Ability to work a summer schedule (dates and hours determined by department)
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a clinical team
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar systems)
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and perform light lifting as required in a clinical setting
  • LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards

Responsibilities

  • Assist clinical staff with non-invasive, non-licensed tasks in accordance with department guidelines and scope
  • Observe and support day-to-day clinical operations and patient care activities
  • Perform basic administrative and clerical duties, including documentation, filing, and data entry
  • Escort patients as appropriate and assist with room preparation and stocking of supplies
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training sessions, and learning opportunities
  • Support special projects as assigned by clinical leadership
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
