As a full time, exempt Clinical Staff Pharmacist at St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center, you will fill orders with accuracy; check technician-prepared products before release; maintain the security of pharmacy and controlled substances; enter orders and patient information with accuracy; aid in the training of new staff; update the Director about the daily activities of the pharmacy, and aid the Director in maintaining the pharmacy. Additionally, take part in hospital clinical activities including but not limited to patient treatment teams, patient medication education groups, and medication monitoring. Schedule: This position is scheduled to work Monday-Friday day shift with rotating on-call every 4 to 5 weeks for a one-week duration. About the Facility: The St. Louis Forensic Treatment Center (FTC) is a state-funded 230-bed forensic inpatient treatment psychiatric facility operated by the Missouri Department of Mental Health’s (DMH) Division of Behavioral Health (DBH). The facility provides an array of mental health services to a population primarily comprised of adults 18 years and older who have been committed to the Department of Mental Health by a criminal court under the mental health provisions of Chapter 552 of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
  • Current Missouri Pharmacist license in good standing
  • 1+ years of experience as a pharmacist in a hospital setting

  • Successful completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency program required, psychiatric focus
  • BCPP certification or working toward the exam upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
  • Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding activities, ensuring compliance with USP and hospital standards
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements
