About The Position

Hospital for Special Surgery Rehabilitation and Performance’s Pediatric division is seeking a speech pathologist to join our dynamic team as a clinical fellow. The Speech Pathology Clinical Fellowship is a full time 9-month program that is a mentored professional experience after the completion of academic course work and clinical practicum as per the American Speech- Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). The speech clinical fellow will spend approximately 80% of their time in direct patient care and 20% of their time is educational. As a member of our renowned Peds Rehab team you will provide pediatric outpatient evaluations and treatment for pediatric patients with a variety of speech, language and feeding diagnoses. In this role you will work collaboratively with the pediatric physical therapists and occupational therapists. The caseload also includes working with patients in the acute care setting to perform bedside swallow evaluations and treatment for our in-patient population. Educating patients and family members on the most up-to-date approaches to the rehabilitation process will be an important part of this role.

Requirements

  • Completion of academic coursework and clinical practicum as per the American Speech- Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Must be eligible for a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) position.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other therapists.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with speech, language, and feeding diagnoses in pediatric patients.
