About The Position

The Clinical Specialist is a licensed nurse who functions within the three spheres of influence; patient-nurse-system. Must possess advanced knowledge of nursing practice and the ability to apply standards within the Inpatient and/or Outpatient practice areas. The Clinical Specialist functions independently to provide theory and evidence-based knowledge that shapes the practice and core competencies for the Inpatient and/or Outpatient nursing staff. The Clinical Specialist provides area leadership in collaboration with the administrative leaders, focusing on orientation, professional development, skills/competency validation, evidence-based practice, shared governance, regulatory compliance, nurse sensitive quality indicators, and performance improvement. The Clinical Specialist collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and functions in the healthcare system as a leader, consultant, and change agent and, therefore, must possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with Associates Degree, Nursing Diploma or Bachelors in Nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Four (4+) years of clinical experience, including at least two (2) years experience in the specialty area for the position and two (2+) years experience in a leadership role (including Charge Nurse, Team Lead, or RN IV level at UAMS)
  • Able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate with other effectively
  • Ability to document services provided
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance organizations/agencies
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Understands and abides by confidentiality policies
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s in Nursing
  • Experience in an academic medical setting
  • National Nursing Certification in the specialty area of for the position
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology

Responsibilities
